IPR - Agreement/Licence to use Copyright

A copyright is a persons exclusive right over a work. Copyright subsists of original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works and cinematograph films. Copyright license agreement is a contract between two parties, one the owner of the copyright and second, the person obtaining the license. Licenses under the Copyright Act of 1957, is governed by Chapter VI. The owner of the copyright in any existing work or the prospective owner of the copyright in any future work may grant any interest in the right by license in writing signed by him or by his duly authorized agent. This way, the copyright owner is allowing the owner to use their copyrighted work; to reprint, publish or distribute it for a specific amount of time. This is not to be confused with assignment of copyrights. The licensee is must however pay royalties to the copyright owner as he/she owns the moral rights over the work, and this cannot be assigned or licensed to others.
