Twitter accounts of some prominent global personalities were hacked recently by a group of hackers. These hackers targeted popular faces such as Joe Biden, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Kanye West, Mike Bloomberg, Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, Kim Kardashian, Uber and Apple Inc. to name a few. These hackers then posted on all the hacked accounts posing as the victims that they were feeling generous of which was also provided.

Surprisingly, the hackers went on and that they would return double amount back to those who donated money to a Bit Coin account link to amass a total of nearly $112,000 through this scam even though the tweets were deleted within minutes from being posted. This might have been the worst hack of a social media platform. A few experts claim that the hackers might have had access to internal infrastructure to pull this hack off. The entire world wanted answers about what had happened and who was responsible.

A similar response was seen by the Government of India, the Central Government sent notice to Twitter seeking a detailed account of what had happened in the recent global hack. Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) sent notice to Twitter seeking information of all the India who had been affected and those who visited the malicious website link or tweet. Right after the hack, Twitter and CERT-In swung into action and Twitter locked most of the hacked accounts and suspended their access of the account users. CERT-In is a cybersecurity nodal agency based in India.

Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey showed remorse and had apologized for the incident and promised that the Twitter team was working to fix the situation and to make sure it never happens again. This makes us wonder if any social media is safe enough for us to grant them access to our phone storage and to upload our personal information.
