Registration of Pharmacists 

The Pharmacy act 1948, under Preparation and maintenance of registration of Pharmacists, lists the process to register pharmacists in a State and the State Council will maintain the register as per the Act. 

The register should include the full name and residential address of the registered person, the date of his first admission to the register, his qualifications for registration, his professional address, and if he is employed by any person, the name of such person and any other particulars as prescribed. 

Preparation of the register 

 The State Government will notify in the Official Gazette by constituting a Registration Tribunal having 3 persons, and appoint a Registrar to act as Secretary of the Registration Tribunal for registration on payment of the prescribed fee. The Registration Tribunal after satisfied that the applicant is qualified for registration under section 31, shall order the entry of the name of the applicant on the register. 

The register should be published as directed by the State Government. Any person aggrieved by a decision may, within 60 days of publication, can appeal to the State Government authority. 

The Registrar may amend the register as per the decisions of the authority and may issue a certificate of registration in the prescribed form. 

Scrutiny of applications for registration 

On receipt of an application, if the Registrar is of opinion that the applicant is entitled to have his name entered in the register under the provisions of this Act, he may enter the name of the applicant in the register. However, if a person's name has been removed from the register of any State, shall be entitled to have his name entered in the register only after the approval of the State Council, duly recorded at a meeting. 

A person, may appeal within 3 months from the date of such rejection of registration by the registrar, to the State Council. However, the decision of the State Council will be final. 

Upon entry in the register of a name under the section, the Registrar will issue a certificate of registration in the prescribed form.
