There are certain terms that we should know while dealing with the online world. At times we all come across words like a disclaimer, privacy policy, and terms and conditions, we often tend to pay less attention to such terms, however, one should be aware of what these terms mean, what do they stand for, and what is included under them.

PRIVACY POLICY

Often when you visit a website, it asks you to confirm with a certain privacy policy, and at times we do that without even reading them. Even apps like Whatsapp and Facebook have their privacy policy, but have you ever wondered what a privacy policy is?

A privacy policy is a breakdown of when the website collects, stores, or use and transmits, or destroys information of its users. Privacy Protection in the online world is a matter of law. Complying and agreeing with a privacy policy has no become an obligation.

Another important point to note is that due to the technology, you may at times unknowingly collect the information regarding the visitors to a website. Sites that use “cookies” or any other tracking technologies to get data, even if that data is not connected with a name or any street address, gains access to the private information.

The digital software detects the information of the moment they visit the site, even though they have really ordered any service provided by that website. The privacy policy conveys to the customer or the user who has accessed the website, that this website collects its data and also states the purpose for which it is collected. Therefore it becomes important to frame the privacy policy in a manner that does not violate any of the existing laws.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Terms and conditions are another part of the web world. There are certain terms and conditions attached to most of the websites. It carries various names such as terms of use and provides the general rules for accessing and using the website. For example, if there is an online shopping store, the terms and conditions of this store's website would probably include the details of how will the sale of the product take place.

Terms and conditions cannot be the same, it is made according to the nature of the website, and therefore one cannot just copy any other person’s terms and conditions displayed on their website.

DISCLAIMER

The disclaimer is one of the most ignored forms amongst the three. Most people tend to ignore it because it appears almost everywhere but that should be the reason to pay attention to the disclaimers. Declaimers are used for reminding the users about the limitations of services that are provided by the service provider of the website. Although disclaimers are one way, it should be framed according to the rules and conditions provided for them. Creating a disclaimer may prevent the website from certain legal liabilities; however, this may differ from case to case.

All the above-stated terms are the ones that should be known to anyone who desires to or plans to start a website of their own. The framing of each of the above-stated elements should be done in a manner that does not violate any of the laws.
