During this Lockdown, Delhi Government taking a step to not force the tenants to pay their rent and if it will happen then Dial 100 for help.

During the Lockdown, Delhi Government issued an order in which asking all landlords to not demand rent from workers for one and two months.

On April 22, 2020, Delhi Government also issued an order in which if landlords are forcing and threatening their tenants (including workers and students) for immediate payment of rent, then the state takes an action against the landlords. Call on 100 for this threatening.

This step taken by the Government because there are many workers and students, who stay in rented rooms in almost all parts of the city. Due to the COVID-19, Lockdown, many business establishments closed down and this forced to the workers and migrant workers financially.

And the motive of the Lockdown is to protect the people by staying them home but demanding rent made them more distress and then it may motivate them to move out from their house..

Taking this as a consideration Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Dev has directed officially that it needs a strict action against landlords, who still demanding rent and he also asked the Deputy Commissioners of Police for weekly report about the complaint lodged by the tenants and the action taken on the complaints.

Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, also requested the landlord to find a way instead of immediate demand of payment. And many landlords supporting CM by agreed on the point to waived off the housing rent for month.

Government only thinks about the migrant workers at this time mostly but what about the landlords, who depend on the rents? What about their financial distress?

So this is the problem which is not only facing by workers or migrant workers but also faced by the landlords, who are totally depend upon the rents.
