In Lockdown 4.o, the Flight services remains stopped at least till May 31, 2020 by Government of India.

New guidelines releases for the Lockdown 4.o and in which more relief given to the people by government as compare to previous lockdown. But for the flight services, there is still no relief. All the domestic and international flight services will remain stopped till May 31, 2020, decided by the government of India, on Sunday May 17, 2020 and extended the nationwide lockdown against COVID-19 pandemic.

All the flights have been stopped their services since March 25, 2020, when the government firstly imposed the lockdown, due to COVID-19 and now this lockdown extended till May 31, 2020 and may be it will continue.

There are some flights services which will be continue for services such as Domestic air ambulance, flights for medical services and security purposes, and repatriation flights by Air India, they are essential services and it will be allowed to operate during the period said a Ministry of Home Affairs circular.

On Sunday, May 17, 2020, National Carrier Air India Ltd, Airline said that it will resume flight booking only after the government permission with their directions and guidelines.

And an earlier internal Memorandum at Air India stated that all domestic flights, except for charter and deportation flight cancelled till May 31, 2020, and also added in that, the date of commencement of operation would be advised.

An Official with a no-frill carriers said “The delay in resumption of flights will hurt airlines. As airlines costs keep piling up, revenues have dried up completely. And to top it there’s an uncertainty with resumption of services”.

Nationwide lockdown situation and the economy of the country impact due to the shutdown situation and for flight services, they still facing the problems such as Indian airlines are losing Rs. 75 crore-Rs. 90 crore daily during the lockdown. Whenever the flights services will resume, the weak demand of passengers due to the Covid-19 outbreaks.
