Swiggy as an opportunity, begins home delivery of alcohol, starts from Ranchi.

Swiggy is Indian’s largest and most valuable online food ordering and delivery platform. On Thursday, May 21, 2020, Swiggy said that it takes an initiative and start delivered alcohol in Ranchi at the doorsteps of the customers and this service has gone live in Ranchi only and it will be launched soon in other major cities in Jharkhand within a week. Swiggy is discussing with other state governments to take permission and support for home delivery of alcohol.

Swiggy said that already took the measures fort home delivery of alcohol in compliance with applicable laws. The measures are mandatory age verification and user authentication to complete deliveries, introduced it, respecting the laws.

Already saw the condition of liquor shops, when it resumes their businesses with the permission and instruction by government. There are many rules which are imposed by the government for the shops against COVID-19 dangerous disease but it was not followed by the people when they were outside the liquor shops such as not maintaining social distancing, not using marks and many more. After considering all this acts and demand of liquor in the public, Swiggy decided to start home delivery of alcohol in a safe and responsible manner. And now, it starts delivered alcohol at the doorsteps.

Anuj Rathi, Vice-President of Swiggy said “By enabling home delivery of alcohol in a safe and responsible manner, we can generate additional business for retail otlets while solving the problem of overcrowding, thereby promoting social distancing”.

Swiggy is partnering with authorized retailers, after the validating their licence and other required documents as outlined by respective State governments.
